Rob Schmitt

Rob Schmitt joined NBC 4 New York in July 2013 as an anchor.  Schmitt anchors the 12 noon news and is responsible for general reporting duties. In that capacity, Rob can be seen reporting stories on News 4 New York at 5 and 6 p.m.

Schmitt comes to NBC 4 New York from CBS2/KCAL9 in Los Angeles, where he had worked since 2011 as an anchor and reporter, covering stories from police pursuits to earthquakes.

Before that, he was with WPLG, the ABC affiliate in Miami.  In Miami, he chased hurricanes in the Caribbean and was on the ground in Port Au Prince, Haiti just days after a massive earthquake destroyed the island nation’s capital city.

Originally from Indiana, Schmitt graduated from the Ernie Pyle School of Journalism at Indiana University.
