An Emmy Award-winning journalist, John Noel joined NBC New York in February 1998 as a general assignment reporter covering local and national events.
Noel joined NBC New York from WJBK-TV in Detroit, where he was a general assignment reporter for five years.
Prior to that, he worked for more than 10 years in the same capacity at the NBC affiliate KSDK-TV in St. Louis, MO.
A Brooklyn native, Noel graduated summa cum laude from Brooklyn College and received a master’s degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
Noel was a member of the United States Air Force for four years. While stationed in Nakhom Phanom, Thailand, he was assigned to the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network as a radio programmer and announcer.
Noel was the recipient of the New York State Broadcasters Award in 1999 and received the Tenants Council of Brooklyn Award for Excellence in Broadcast Television.
He has also received the Distinguished Record of Achievement as a Broadcast Reporter Award from the city comptroller’s office.
When not working, Noel enjoys, most of all, spending time with his daughter, which includes walking her dog, Freido.
