Erika Tarantal serves as co-anchor for “Weekend Today in New York” and as a general assignment reporter filing stories for various NBC New York newscasts during the week.
Tarantal came to NBC New York as a general assignment reporter in December 2007 from NBC-owned WVIT-TV in Hartford, Conn., where she worked as a general assignment reporter beginning in October 2005.
Prior to that, Tarantal rose through the ranks at News 12 in the Bronx where she began as a general assignment reporter and then was promoted to anchor of the station’s weekday morning newscast. Tarantal also served previously as a production assistant at WHDH-TV in Boston, Mass.
Before getting her start in broadcasting, Tarantal was a paralegal for the Office of the Attorney General in Boston.
Tarantal graduated from Connecticut College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Government.
