After a day at the water park, stay off the leather car seats.

A Minnesota woman picking her 11-year-old nephew up from an amusement park allegedly forced him to ride in the trunk of her Lexus, because he was wet from a water ride and she didn't want him to ruin the seats.

Susan Marie McCarty was charged with child endangerment over the incident, just after she picked the boy up from the Valleyfair park in Shakopee, Minn., the Star Tribune reported.

Witnesses said they saw the boy’s sister close the trunk and his grandmother and McCarty climb into the car. When the witnesses didn’t see the boy get back out, they wrote down the car’s license plate number and called the police.

After police stopped her, McCarty admitted to putting the boy in the trunk.

The boy’s sister and grandmother told police that they felt uncomfortable about the boy riding in the trunk but didn’t question McCarty’s decision.

The boy himself was was excited to ride in the trunk, his sister told police, confirming that she closed the trunk once he was inside. She said the back seat console was folded down, leaving a small space so that he could get some air.

McCarty could face up to a year in prison and a $3,000 fine if convicted of child endangerment.
