Crooks Nab $15K Bronze Pig Statue

San Diego -- A couple of crooks were apparently aching for some expensive bacon when police say they nabbed a bronze pig statue valued at about $15,000.

The 3-foot porker went missing April 5, from a strip mall in front of Miguel’s restaurant on Eastlake Parkway in Chula Vista at about 5:35 a.m.

“Surveillance video shows the suspect vehicle backing up, jumping the curb, and bumping the bolted pig off its mount,” Officer James R. Johnson said.  The suspects placed the pig in the bed of the truck and fled the scene.

The first pig thief is described as possibly in his mid 30s with a medium build.  He was wearing a short sleeve T-shirt with the words “This Shirt is Illegal” printed on the front and a large cross on the back.

The second suspect is possibly in his late 20s with a thin build; he was wearing a baseball cap and a hooded sweatshirt.

The getaway vehicle is described as a newer model, white four-door pickup truck, possibly with custom chrome rims.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the pig or the suspects is asked to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477.
