Botched Bank Job: Bronx Man Busted for 38th Time

Stamford police arrested a 54-year-old Bronx man Monday for fraudulently trying to withdraw $4,000 from a Stamford bank and learned he had quite a rap sheet.

Touissant Vogelsang entered the KeyBank on Bedford St. at 1 p.m. Monday, and when bank officials became suspicious, they called police.

Cops quickly responded and nabbed Vogelsang just as he was making his exit.

Vogelsang’s N.Y. driver's license and American Express card seemed to be forged and he was operating under an alias, police said.

Vogelsang, well accustomed to run-ins with the law, has tacked on 37 arrests prior to this one. They include robbery, assault, counterfeiting, narcotics and weapons charges.

He was held on $50,000 bond and charged Tuesday with third-degree identity theft, second-degree forgery and third-degree attempted larceny.

He is due in court on June 29.
