UConn On to the Elite Eight

Kemba Walker led all scorers with 36 points.

The UConn Huskies are headed to the Elite Eight.

Kemba Walker's 36 points helped the Huskies outlast the San Diego State Aztecs 74-67 in their Sweet Sixteen match-up in Anaheim, Calif. Thursday night.

UConn built up a nine-point halftime lead, but gave it back in the early part of the second half.

San Diego State, who traveled just 93 miles to the game, had the majority of the crowd at the Honda Center on their side.  The Aztecs took the lead with 13:05 left in the second half, but UConn hung around, building up another nine-point lead, when Walker hit a three-pointer with just 4:52 left in the game.

San Diego State got to within a point at 65-64, but that's as close as they got, thanks in part to great play by freshman Jeremy Lamb.

Lamb made an amazing steal of an ally-oop pass by the Aztecs, then finished with a slam on the other end.  He finished with 24 points.

UConn will play the winner of the Duke-Arizona game.
