Super Bowl Visitors to Experience Traffic, New Jersey-Style

Cold weather won't be the only thing greeting visitors to the Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium this February.

A contractor on the project to replace the Route 3 bridge over the Passaic River says the roadwork won't be finished before the game. That means football fans from out of town will experience the same tight merges and bumpy ride as local drivers.

The Record reports the project has been delayed by utility crews' moving communications lines. Contractor J. Fletcher Creamer told the newspaper it would cost more in overtime and double shifts to get the job done on time.

A state transportation department spokesman says the federal government is funding the $160 million project but that the cost of expediting it would have been borne by state taxpayers.
