Posada Won't Catch Burnett in ALDS

Girardi: "Tough decision"

The big news at the Yankees workout Tuesday surrounded Jorge Posada.

The veteran catcher, who owns four World Series rings, will not catch A.J. Burnett in the American League Division Series. Instead, Jose Molina will be behind the plate when the right-hander takes the mound in game 2 or 3.

"I just hope we win that game," Posada said. "Sure, I am disappointed and would like to play -- but it's all about the team right now."

Manager Joe Girardi said admitted it was a hard choice to make.

"As a manager you have to make tough decisions and this is a tough decision," he said. "Burnett and Molina are in a good rhythm and I want to keep them working together."

This move is not totally unexpected -- and this team is too good right now to get petty. I'd go with the Manager on this one -- at least until Burnett throws up a clunker. Yankee fans are hoping that doesn't happen. And I believe Burnett's first post-season, will be outstanding.

The Yankees, who hold home-field advantage throughout the postseason, will start the post season Wednesday at 6:07 p.m. EDT against the Tigers-Twins winner.
