A man who let go of a wagon carrying a child so that he could chase after a ball at a Mets spring training game is gaining unwanted fame thanks to video making the rounds on the web.

The wagon and the child inside it rolled down the outfield hill as the man chased after a ball during the first inning of the Mets-Marlins game in Port St. Lucie on Monday.

"He left the kid in the cart, " screamed Mets announcer Gary Cohen. "Hey, pick him up. Oh my goodness...I mean what are we doing here? The kid is flopping out of the cart, he is over the fence.  At least you got that ball."

Mets outfielder Chris Young hit a ground-rule double that bounced over the outfield fence and onto the grassy hill, where the two men gave chase. Unfortunately, one of the men, wearing a Marlins shirt, let go of a red wagon, sending the child down the hill.

The man appeared to have caught up with the cart just before it crashed into the wall. The boy appeared to be OK.  A woman with the man did not appear amused.
