New Device Lets Jets Fans Watch TV From Inside Stadium

Normal 0 Not content enough to sit in the New Meadowlands and just watch the game? If you’re a Jets fan, you might be in luck.

The Jets will now offer FanVision, a new handheld device that will allow fans to watch instant replays with multiple angles, check fantasy stats, and get live feeds from other games around the league. The Jets will begin to test the device this season, along with 12 other teams (Giants not included).

The device, which comes from Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, was made available to Dolphins fans all of last year, and was just given league approval for all teams this season. The device will be used as an attempt to combat HDTV and other at home TV features that may discourage a fan from actually going to the game.

The Giants declined to use the technology, preferring to use a similar cell phone-based service with Verizon, one of the sponsors of the New Meadowlands.

While the device was given away for free in Miami last year, it will cost $199 this season for the device hardware and the service. The fan will get to keep the device, but will most likely be charged for the service for each additional season.
