Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Islanders announced Tuesday that veteran center Mike Sillinger will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing hip resurfacing surgery.

Sillinger had the procedure done on Monday in New York City, his second surgery on the troublesome hip in the last year. The 37-year-old sat out the final 29 games of the 2007-08 campaign and the first 24 games of this season recovering from microfracture hip surgery.

The 18-year NHLer scored twice in seven games with the Islanders, who are last in the league with 31 points.

Originally selected 11th overall by Detroit in the 1989 draft, Sillinger has recorded 240 goals and 308 assists in 1,049 career games for a record 12 different NHL teams.
