Geno Smith Doesn't Plan to Press Charges After Locker Room Punch

Geno Smith says he has no plans to file charges against former teammate Ikemefuna Enemkpali, the linebacker who broke the Jets quarterback's jaw with a punch last month.

Smith, expected to miss at least the first four games of the regular season, says Monday he has moved on from the incident that happened in New York's locker room before practice on Aug. 11.

Smith would not address whether Enemkpali apologized to him, or if Smith reimbursed the $600 that is believed to be at the root of the dispute.

Smith had screws and metal plates inserted into his jaw, but says he has been mostly pain-free for the last two or three weeks.

Coach Todd Bowles says the timeline for Smith's return hasn't changed.

Enemkpali was released from the team moments after the attack, and was later signed by the Buffalo Bills. He was cut Friday as the team pared its roster down to 53 players.
