Cal Ripken Jr. Offers $100K Reward in Mom's Abduction Case

Cal Ripken Jr. is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the abduction of his mother.

Vi Ripken was kidnapped at gunpoint from her home outside Baltimore last July. She was blindfolded and driven around for nearly 24 hours before she was found unharmed in her car. Cal Ripken called the crime bizarre and unsettling. No one has been arrested in the abduction.

"In our minds, this is important, not only to us, but for all communities. We would like to get closure on this case and give all of us some peace of mind," Ripken said. "There's a possibility that this isn't the first time he did it. It might not be the last so you need to catch him."

The Hall of Fame infielder addressed the media Thursday at the Sports Legends Museum next to Camden Yards. FBI agents and police officers from Aberdeen, where Vi Ripken lives, were also in attendance. Former "America's Most Wanted'' host John Walsh was also present.

His mother did not attend the press conference, but Ripken said she is slowly returning to most of her regular activities.

"Mom has her ups and downs but by in large, she is a strong woman," Ripken said.
