So, who is the best athlete in New York?

A-Rod? Eli? Beltran?

How about Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur?

Thursday night, Brodeur will go for win No. 550, which would put him one behind Patrick Roy's all-time NHL mark of 551.

Quick Poll

Brodeur is on the verge of owning all the major NHL goaltending records, including shutouts, which he could set this season as well.

If Brodeur gets the win against lowly Phoenix on Thursday, he can tie the mark Saturday in his hometown of Montreal, where, coincidentally, Roy starred for several years.

Looking ahead to next week, the potential exists for Brodeur to set the all-time mark back at home Tuesday against Chicago.
