Oprah, Obamas Out to Land Olympics

Chicago's biggest guns in Denmark for Friday announcement

Chicago's biggest guns -- Oprah and the Obamas -- will pull an all-nighter in Copenhagen, hoping to land the 2016 Olympics for the Windy City.

The president was scheduled to fly to Denmark Thursday afternoon, where he'll join the first lady, the talk show queen, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and a host of other city leaders as they put on the full court press for the games. The competition: Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid. Chicago makes its presentation first, trying to convince the 100-member International Olympic Committee the city is the best choice for the world games.

The seven-hour time difference between Copenhagen and Chicago means the  presentations and the IOC's intricate voting process will begin in the wee hours, U.S. time, and culminate in the winner's announcement Friday just before noon, Chicago time. And if Chicago comes up the winner, Oprah knows what comes next.

"If we get this, the party starts Friday," she vowed.
