Poll: Democrat Leads Narrowly in Upstate NY Race

A new poll shows Democrat Kathy Hochul with a narrow lead over her Republican and Tea Party rivals four days before a special House election in upstate New York.

The Siena Poll of likely voters found Hochul leading Republican Assemblywoman Jane Corwin by a 44-38 percent margin. Tea Party contender Jack Davis was at 12 percent.

The seat in the heavily Republican 26th Congressional district came open after GOP Rep. Chris Lee resigned in February when shirtless photos he sent to a woman surfaced online.

The survey of 639 likely voters was conducted May 18-20 and had a sampling error of plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
