Lazio Picks Up Support of 4 More GOP Leaders

Lazio, seen here with former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, has been picking up steam.

Republican candidate for governor Rick Lazio is picking up the support of four more Republican leaders as he prepares for an important session Monday with Conservative Party leaders.

Republican committee leaders from Brooklyn, the Bronx, Westchester and Rockland are now endorsing Lazio, the former congressman from Long Island.

Lazio is scheduled to speak to state Conservative Party leaders on Monday in the Albany suburb of Colonie.

Republicans rely on the Conservative Party vote to win statewide office in New York -- where Democrats have a 2-to-1 enrollment advantage.

Lazio has also secured the endorsement of several Conservative Party leaders at the county level.

He is the only announced Republican candidate for governor.
