Americans Lose Faith in Obama: Poll

New poll gives president sorry marks

More and more Americans are losing confidence in President Obama as he struggles to enact widespread health reform. 

Less than half of Americans trust the president to make the right decision for the country, down from 60 percent at his 100-day mark, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. 

While Obama's approval rating is a strong 57 percent, it is down 12 points since April. His disapproval has spiked to 40 percent, according to the poll of 1,001 adults that was conducted Aug. 13 to 17.

More than a majority of Americans disapprove of the way Obama has dealt with the budget deficit, and 50 percent disapprove of the way he has handled his signature issue: health care.
