Car Driver, Passenger Die & Students Hurt in South Jersey School Bus Crash

A driver and passenger died after their vehicle collided with a school bus in Southampton Township, New Jersey on Tuesday, police said.

The Volkswagen Passat collided head-on with a school bus at Pemberton and Ridge roads around 5 p.m., according to officials with the New Jersey State Police Department. The crash left driver Michael Razzano, 49 of Browns Mills and his passenger Sean McNaughton, 41, of Medford, dead.

Based on a preliminary investigation, officials believe the Passat was passing cars illegally when it crashed into the bus.

The bus was carrying 20 members of the Lenape High School swim team, two coaches and the bus driver, police said. Eight students and one adult on the bus suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly.
