Security Guard Injured at Ultra Music Festival Suing for $10 Million

A security guard injured during this year’s Ultra Music Festival in March will file a lawsuit Monday against the festival organizers, the city of Miami, and others for $10 million.

Erica Mack was trampled while working security at the festival after fencing in the area she was working collapsed. She was injured after a large group of people outside the festival tried to push over a fence at SE 1st Street and Biscayne Boulevard.

Miami Police had reportedly been warned that the area where Mack was providing security needed stronger fencing in case of any problems. Miami Police Chief Manuel Orosa said organizers didn’t follow through.

Mack suffered a skull fracture and a broken leg when she was trampled. Her attorney, Eric Isicoff, said she remains under the care of her doctors and regularly attends rehab for her broken leg.

Mack hasn’t spoken to the media about what happened since the incident, but Isicoff said she will speak on Monday about her ordeal.

UPDATE: Ultra's organizer's released a statement that read in part: "We continue to wish Ms. Mack the best for her future and hope she has made a full and complete recovery, but the complaint her lawyers have now filed as part of a lawsuit does not properly recite the facts of the unfortunate accident. Without question, event organizers believe that the incident was caused by illegal actions of unknown third parties for which it is not responsible."
