Mom's Boyfriend Allegedly Duct-Taped Kids to Chairs to Watch ‘Mommie Dearest': Police

When one mommy heard her kids call her "the meanest mommy" in the world, police say she wanted to show them what a real mean mommy is – by allegedly having her boyfriend force her two boys to watch the movie "Mommie Dearest."

And he did when he duct-taped to chairs.

Mary Lucas, 28, told Nebraska City police the movie was "Hollywood's perfect representation of a mean mother," the arrest affidavit obtained by the Smoking Gun said.

Lucas' boyfriend, Glenn Oliver, 29,  allegedly duct-taped her sons, a 4 year old and a 6 year old, to chairs after the mother instructed him to make the kids watch the movie, police said in the affidavit.

When asked if this was the first time the boys had been duct-taped as punishment, Lucas said no but the boys told police they had been duct-taped by "Daddy Glenn" in the past. Lucas also claimed she was not home when the movie incident took place and the children told the Child Advocacy Center that was also not true, according to the affidavit.

Lucas told police that her mother had made her watch the movie when she was only 4 years old but the affidavit did not state if she had also been duct-taped.

When police knocked on Oliver's door, he allegedly said "I know why you're here," the police arrest said. He told police he had been "playing" with the boys when he duct-taped them to the chairs. Oliver said he was playing at first but realized the boys were calm after he taped them, the arrest affidavit said.

Oliver, was charged with child abuse and false imprisonment, the Smoking Gun reports. Lucas has been charged with child abuse for letting Oliver duct-tape her children.

It was not clear is Oliver or Lucas had an attorney.
