Judge Denies Hernandez Lawyer Bid to Question Tipster

Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh ruled on Monday that such a step was premature

A judge says a lawyer for former New England Patriots player and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez may not question under oath an anonymous tipster who raised questions about a juror in the case.

Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh ruled on Monday that such a step was premature.

Defense Attorney James Sultan says the tipster called him several times and raised concern about a juror after Hernandez was convicted in April for the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd.

According to prosecutors, the woman, whose name has been redacted in court papers, had a sexually explicit relationship with Hernandez and sent him sexual letters. They said she hoped to continue the relationship when he's released.

Garsh said if Sultan wants to question her under oath, he first had to submit an affidavit from her.
