A Washington man who was told he had just one week to live married his fiancée and got a glimpse of his unborn granddaughter, according to Today.

Darren Sisk, 47, of Vancouver, Washington, was in remission for 16 years after battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma. But his doctors told him his cancer returned, and said he would not make is past a week.

On July 4, hospital staff at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center rallied and, together with a dozen family members, gathered in Sisk’s room to see the couple get married.

Sisk’s daughter, Jayleen — who is pregnant and due in the fall — coordinated a surprise ultrasound with the doctor so her father could see his granddaughter.

“Everyone in the room was happy for him because he was getting his wish, but it was hard to enjoy it knowing it will be our last celebration together," Sisk’s other daughter, Chialeah told Today. "But we all put our emotions aside for him."
