Coast Guard Finds Sailor, 77, After Eight Days at Sea

The Coast Guard is searching for Craig Neus, who has been sailing since June and went missing Nov. 4.

The Coast Guard on Thursday found a 77-year-old man who went missing while sailing from Baltimore to his home in Florida's Panhandle, NBC News reported.

The Coast Guard was able to find Craig Neus by tracing his cellphone. A military plane eventually spotted his 32-foot beige two-masted Bristol about 16 miles southwest of Carrabelle, Florida.

Neus had been missing for eight days after his sailboat battery died off the Florida coast. The Coast Guard says Neus was last seen Nov. 4 when he made a purchase at a resort in Captiva.

He had been sailing his boat since June, intending to finish his voyage in his hometown of Panama City, Florida.

According to the Coast Guard, the search for Neus by air and sea covered more than 65,000 square miles.
