Body of 2-Month-Old Baby Found in Woods After Hospital Tip: Police

Authorities discovered the body of a 2-month-old boy after receiving a tip from a hospital staffer about a patient who had talked about the death of a baby, police said Sunday.

Investigators subsequently charged the boyfriend of the infant's mother with killing the infant, named Mason Whyte.

It comes after staff at New York-Presbyterian/Westchester Division in White Plains notified police on Saturday of the patient's statements, investigators said.

The body of the little boy, the patient's child, was found in a wooded area north of the city in Dover, more than 70 miles north of the Bronx address where he died on Dec. 10, police said.

Jose Feliciano, 51, of Morris Park in the Bronx, was arrested Sunday on charges of second-degree murder, manslaughter and manslaughter of a person less than 11 years old, according to the NYPD. It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.

Police continue to investigate, but said the baby was killed in Feliciano's apartment.

A medical examiner will determine the baby's cause of death.

No information about the baby's mother was available.
