The heavy glass door of an Apple Store near D.C. came loose Monday during the busy pre-Christmas shopping rush and fell onto a passer-by, breaking his pelvis and dislocating his hip.
The man, who is in his 20s, was sent to a local hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries, said Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Scott Graham. An attorney for the man says his client is in severe pain and will be transported to a rehab facility.
He was hurt Monday afternoon as he walked by the store on Bethesda Row. Photos of the incident surfaced on Bethesdanow.com, on photo site Flickr and the sharing site Reddit.
Apple's insurance company has been in contact with the man's attorney and also sent flowers to the hospital. The company's public relations office did not return calls for comment.
