Thousands Across U.S. Protest NYC Chokehold Death

Thousands of protesters on Thursday marched in New York City and cities across the country for a second night as outrage grew after a grand jury's decision on Wednesday clearing an NYPD officer in the chokehold death of Eric Garner. In Chicago protesters walked onto the Dan Ryan Expressway and brought traffic to a halt. And in Washington, D.C, a crowd staged a "die-in" a block from the National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony near the White House. Protesters in Boston also converged at the city's annual tree lighting ceremony. People took to the streets in San Francisco and Oakland and dozens of protesters marched through downtown Dallas as well. A grand jury declined to indict white NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo in the July 17 death of Garner, who was black and unarmed.
