A leading veterans group tracked Department of Veterans Affairs ills long before the scandal over long wait times that brought down the VA secretary broke. The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) published a survey in 2013 that showed thousands of vets were waiting as long as a year for urgently needed treatment. This year the IAVA is asking veterans from all conflicts and eras to share their experiences with the Veterans Health Administration. The IAVA will collect the answers, including the personal stories of individual veterans, and then release the results in a new version of thewaitwecarry.org website.
