Grinch Steals Christmas Decorations From Same Staten Island House Three Nights in a Row, Family Says

A Staten Island family says its Christmas decorations have been swiped three nights in a row, and they believe it's the same person each time.

David Corimer says his neighbor's surveillance footage captured the real life grinch stealing more than $500 worth of Christmas decorations from his Eltingville home.

He said the thefts were staggered over three days, Monday through to Wednesday.

"The first night I had a snow globe with Anna and Elsa, then I had Rudolph, he took that the second night, then he took a polar bear last night," Corimer said.

Looking at the surveillance footage, Corimer believed the crime was committed by the same person.

"They had the same clothes, same hat, same everything," he said.

He said the grinch had left his three children in tears.

Police said they didn't know if the thief had hit other homes, but a few blocks away, another family says their guilt-stricken thief returned two stolen Christmas lights with a handwritten apology note after he was captured on surveillance video and shamed on social media.

Corimer planned to stay up at night to watch for the grinch, while police were also patrolling the area to make sure the theft didn't happen a fourth night in a row.
