Firefighters Battle Four-Alarm Blaze on Staten Island

More than a dozen firefighters suffered minor injuries Monday while battling a four-alarm blaze on Staten Island, authorities said.

Forty units, including 175 firefighters, responded to the scene of the blaze on Hampton Place in Rossville, officials said.

The fire started in the laundry room of a multi-family home on Hampton Place shortly after 4 p.m., the FDNY said.  It quickly spread to other houses and was escalated to four alarms.

Footage from Chopper 4 showed flames and thick smoke billowing from site as firefighters worked to bring the fire under control.
