Five Injured in Airport Shuttle Van Crash on Sixth Avenue

The shuttle van, packed with passengers, collided with a speeding Mercedes early Saturday in front of Radio City Music Hall, police said

Five people in a shuttle bus were injured early Sunday morning in Midtown when they were hit by the driver of a Mercedes Benz who was taken into custody on suspicions of driving while intoxicated, police said.

Witnesses say the Mercedes was driving northbound on Sixth Avenue when it collided with an airport shuttle van going eastbound on West 50th Street, near Radio City and Rockefeller Plaza.

The van was packed with people and their luggage, witnesses said.

One witness also said the car appeared to be racing another car up Sixth Avenue, but police could not confirm that.

Police said the bus driver and the four passengers were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, including a fractured skull and neck and back injuries.
