Helicopter Crashes in New Jersey Field

A small helicopter crashed in a cornfield just East of Route 1 in West Windsor Township near Quakerbridge Road earlier this afternoon. 1 fatality and no survivors were reported after the helicopter crashed and burned for unknown reasons.

Authorities have confirmed one fatality in a helicopter crash that occured in a field near Route 1 and Quakerbridge Road in West Windsor Township, New Jersey.

West Windsor Police described the event as a "small helicopter crash" and asked residents to stay away from the area.

It is not known how many people were on board. No identities have been released.

A photo posted on Twitter by user @KaceyCarrig showed a cloud of black smoke rising from what appeared to be the crash site. "Scariest thing ever," Carrig wrote. "Just walked out of a store and saw a helicopter fall out of the sky and crash."

 The investigation is ongoing.
