Man Wanted For Slashing NYC Woman in the Face

Police say the man pictured above slashed a 20-year-old woman across the face during a robbery in the Bronx last Friday -- opening a gash on her cheek that needed more than two dozen stiches to close.

The victim, a City College student named Paula, was waking home from the train on Holland Avenue near Morris Park Avenue at about 12:15 a.m. when she was attacked. NBC 4 New York is withholding the victim's last name at her request.

Her assailant came up from behind her and tried to grab her phone, she said.

She was then slashed in the face, pushed to the ground and kicked in the lip, she said. The mugger made off with her pocketbook, but did not steal her cellphone.

"I was on the ground, screaming," she said. "I guess he got frightened and maybe that's why he kicked me in the face and took my purse."

Her landlord's son heard her crying and called for help. She was transported to Jacobi Hospital, where she was treated and released, authorities said.

The suspect fled the scene and is still at large.

There is now a $2,500 reward for information that leads to his arrest and indictment, police said.
