Long Island Man Arrested for Possessing Child Pornography

A Long Island man and former theater director was arrested Wednesday for possessing child pornography, Suffolk County police said.

Vincent Sparagano, 42, was charged with one count of possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Sparagano is already on probation after being convicted of endangering the welfare of a child. Police say he sent multiple messages containing suggestive and inappropriate comments to a 14-year-old member of the Spotlight Players theater group, where the suspect worked.

He was arrested again Wednesday morning after a pornography file was found by Suffolk County detectives working in the Computer Crimes Unit, who were assisting the police's Probation Department in analyzing Sparagano's cell phone and computer as part of his probation.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
