The NYPD has launched an internal affairs investigation into a police officer's report that he was stabbed during a possible home invasion.

Rishi Gobin was off-duty when he said he was stabbed Wednesday afternoon in his Jamaica, Queens, home.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment of a stab wound to his right side.

The investigation appeared to cast doubt on the officer's story. According to The New York Times, police spokesman Paul Browne declined to give further details about the investigation.

But he said he saw nothing to suggest that the officer stabbed himself.
