Locals correspondents will be encouraged to contribute, chronicle and share ‘real’ women-centric topics

    Do you know what women want?

    iVillage and NBC Local Media are partnering on a unique nationwide search for local citizens across America to contribute, chronicle and share ‘real’ women-centric topics that matter most to them and their community.  

    Putting an ‘eye’ on community, 10 outspoken iVillage community members will be chosen by a top selection committee of journalism experts including TODAY’s Natalie Morales, MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer LXTV’s and Jane Hanson and iVillage Chief Correspondent Kelly Wallace, who will serve as executive producer. 

    These community members will become part of the newly created iVoices on iVillage, providing blogs and video commentary for iVillage and possibly select NBC local markets. The topics will center on areas that are most important to women in areas, such as health, pregnancy & parenting, finance, entertainment and beauty & style.

    "Millions of women come daily to iVillage to connect, share advice and engage in meaningful conversations - this is a natural extension of our programming and to the core of what we do,” said Jodi Kahn, Executive Vice President, iVillage. “As we expand our footprint to extended platforms, we’re thrilled to be able to offer our community this one-of-a-kind opportunity to have their voices heard across the country and encourage people to speak up and share on issues.”

The topics may cut across all of our markets, but the various local nuances have a big impact on the discussion.”

    iVoices on iVillage will be promoted across the 10 local NBC stations with 15-second on-air vignettes, encouraging viewers to go to iVillage to learn more about the program.

    Starting now and extending until August 30, candidates are encouraged to go to www.ivillage.com and submit a photo and write a 150-word essay explaining why this opportunity is essential to them and their community.
