Police are searching for two suspects in the University Heights attempted robbery

Police are searching for two suspects accused of shooting a man when he refused to turn over his iPhone during an attempted robbery in the University Heights section of the Bronx last week.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, was walking on West 190th Street between Aqueduct and Grand avenues with a friend at about 6:30 p.m. when the two suspects approached him, police said.

One of the suspects demanded the victim's iPhone, according to police. When the victim refused and attempted to run away, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot at the victim, striking him once in the back.

Both suspects fled the scene, police said.

The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was treated for his injury.
