Family members say the man being questioned is a relative of the girl's stepmother

A 36-year-old man is being questioned in connection with the death of a girl found inside a Bronx apartment building early Friday morning. Checkey Beckford has more.

The death of a 15-year-old girl in the Bronx Friday has been ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.

Authorities say Destiny Sanchez was smothered to death. Her body was found with a compression to the neck and stomach inside the lobby of 640 Barretto St. in Hunts Point.

A source told NBC 4 New York that police found bleach on Sanchez's body, but they did not know where it came from.

A 24-year-old man who was being questioned in connection with Sanchez's death was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, according to police. Officials say he served Sanchez alcohol.

Family members say that man, who has not been identified, is a relative of the girl's stepmother amnd lives on the second floor of the apartment building where Sanchez was found.
