The victim was struck twice; the driver of the second vehicle fled the scene.

Police are investigating a hit and run in Brooklyn that has left one pedestrian dead.

Officials say the 58-year-old victim, who has not yet been identified, was attempting to cross Coney Island Avenue and Avenue K in Midwood late Thursday night when he was struck by a grey van.

The driver of the van remained on the scene, but the victim was struck again by another vehicle while he was still on the ground.

The driver of the second vehicle, which police say is a light-colored sedan, then fled the scene.

EMS responded and transported the victim to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
