NYC Lawyer Charged with Embezzling Millions

Douglas Arnsten was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Friday in Manhattan

A New York lawyer has been accused of stealing $7 million from a real estate company and then fleeing to Hong Kong.

Douglas Arnsten was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Friday in Manhattan. He was returned to the city from China earlier Friday.

Prosecutors say the 34-year-old worked at the firm Crowell & Moring and was the lead attorney for most real estate transactions for the company Regal Real Estate. They say Arnsten moved money related to the sale of Regal's property into bank accounts he controlled. He was fired from the firm.

His next court date is April 19.
