Man Injured as SUV Smashes Into Bedroom in Howard Beach, Queens

A Queens father is thankful his son has escaped with his life after an SUV crashed into his bedroom.

Giacomo Terrana said his son Andrew, 34, was in bed watching television in their Howard Beach home on Friday when he heard what sounded like an explosion.

Then he saw the car "come through the house", Terrana said.

It was an SUV, which had gone barreling into the side of the Terrana family home and the bedroom where Andrew was lying.

The impact sent furniture flying against the wall and crashing down on top of him.

"He was shaking, he was scared. He wasn't expecting something like this," Terrana said.

Andrew was loaded into an ambulance after suffering a hit to the head.

Police say the incident happened when a woman driving west on 161st Avenue hit the gas instead of the brakes in an attempt to avoid a car that had stopped short.

The mistake sent her careening through a fence and into the side of the house.

The family said they were thankful to make it out of the freak accident alive.
