1 Dead in Crash on Montauk Highway

A Bellport man was killed early Saturday in a crash on the Montauk Highway,  Suffolk County police said.

Jasheem Trent, 21, was driving a 2006 Infiniti with passenger Willie Davis, 24, of Bellport westbound on the highway when the car crossed the double yellow line and overturned off the roadway.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. Trent was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue and is being treated for serious injuries.

Investigators said the car was apparently speeding, and they do not think either passenger was wearing seat belts.

The investigation is ongoing.
