1 Critical in Bronx Subway Platform Stabbing: Cops

The 19-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times after a fight broke out on an uptown 4 train, police said.

Police say a man has been stabbed and critically hurt at a Bronx subway station after confronting another subway rider over a stolen cellphone.

Police say the 19-year-old victim and a 21-year-old friend fell asleep while riding a southbound No. 4 train early Saturday. They awoke around 4 a.m. to find the victim's cellphone stolen -- and then spotted another passenger with the phone.

Police say that passenger got off the train at the Fordham Road station, and the victim and his friend followed and accosted him. Authorities say the suspect flashed a knife, so the victim's friend went to a token booth to summon police. He returned to find the victim wounded.

The suspect was gone. Police are trying to identify and find him.
