Police are searching for a man captured on video viciously beating and robbing a woman inside an elevator in a Bronx apartment building.

The assault happened Thursday morning inside a building in the Morris Houses on Washington Avenue in Claremont.
The 57-year-old victim is seen on surveillance video riding the elevator one floor with the suspect before he exited. The suspect later met the victim on her floor, beat her inside the elevator and robbed her.
The suspect took off with earrings, a necklace, and $45.
Residents inside the building were shaken up Friday, and told NBC 4 New York they were being extra cautious in the building.
One resident said she would stay away from the elevator and only ride with people she knows.
Police describe the suspect as a 5'11" male between the ages of 17 and 20 years old, and was last seen wearing a black Polo jacket, black sweat pants and a black hat with a red stripe.
Anyone with information was asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
