Nearly 50 Illegal Guns Recovered in Yonkers Undercover Sting

Three people were arrested Tuesday after a series of search warrants were executed in Yonkers and the Bronx

An undercover police officer bought 46 firearms, including nearly a dozen assault rifles, in what Yonkers police are calling one of the largest undercover gun buy operations outside of New York City, authorities said.

The officer bought the weapons, which also included handguns and rifles of assorted calibers, on about 30 different occasions in Yonkers since February.

Three people were arrested Tuesday after a series of search warrants were executed in Yonkers and the Bronx. 

Authorities are expected to release more details at a news conference later Wednesday.
