NY Apartment Building Evacuated After Police Discover Marijuana Grow House

A Yonkers building was evacuated Wednesday afternoon while police investigated a possible marijuana grow house.

Residents were cleared out of a five-story building on Yonkers Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. as a precaution after the discovery of a suspected drug operation.

Traffic was also limited on the street.

Chopper 4 footage from the scene showed a large police trailer parked out front. At least two officers appeared to be wearing protective gear, as well.

It's not clear if anyone was injured or if there was any imminent threat to the people living in the building.

It comes a little more than a year after a Bronx apartment that was also the site of a pot farm exploded, killing a FDNY battalion chief. Fire officials ruled the explosion was caused by a tampered gas main; the men accused of running the grow operation were also charged with crimes in the firefighter's death
