Three schools in Yonkers, N.Y., were locked down for part of the morning Thursday as police responded to a report of a disturbed man in the street with a weapon and found he was armed and barricaded in his home.

P.S. 29, P.S. 32 and Early College High School were locked down after police arrived and discovered the man in the home. He was later found to have three guns.

Officers entered the home and found him with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his face. He was alone in the house, and no one else was hurt.

The school lockdown order was lifted before 11:30 a.m.

The condition of the man was not immediately known.
