NJ Worker Crushed to Death by Freight Container

An employee of Norfolk Southern shipping company in Jersey City was crushed to death by a freight container on Monday, the mayor's office said.

The container was being lifted by a crane at about 1:30 p.m. when a wire snapped, causing the crane and the container to collapse onto the worker, authorities said.

The employee was pronounced dead at the scene. His name and age are being withheld pending family notification.
