Woman Hit by BMW, Then Truck, in Brooklyn Dies: NYPD

A woman has died after being struck by two vehicles in Brooklyn, police say.

The victim, 32-year-old Nicole Detweiler, was struck by a BMW and an Isuzu box truck at McGuinness Boulevard and Nassau Avenue in Greenpoint Sunday night, according to police. She was hit by the BMW first.

Both drivers stayed on the scene after the accident. The truck's driver, 35-year-old Roberto Amador, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

A worker at a nearby deli said someone ran into the store asking him to call police. He dialed 911, then ran out and saw the woman lying on the ground.

"I was in shock," said Mohammed Miah. "I couldn't believe this actually happened."

Miah said the truck driver appeared to be in shock.

"He looked like he didn't know what to do," he said.

Residents say they have seen drivers going recklessly at the intersection.

"This intersection is just so prone to people going really fast and there have been a lot of obvious mishaps," said Paul Dekel.

He added, "It's really upsetting me to see it. It's hard to see something like this during this time of year."
